'The Amazing Spider-Man' had more edge, better casting, and a villain that out did the first trilogy. But at the end of the day the first half of the film was too similar to the 2002 Spider-Man. There was no variety. There was very little variance. It feels too soon to reboot a franchise which actually hasn't faded from the publics mind. The movie was entertaining but could have been relatively good if it had been made three years from now. I doubt there is any interest in a sequel. If there is it will be the first movie franchise Ouroboros.
There was nothing new or exciting about this movie. I was entertained but nothing more.
Rent It.
