Although it has been scorching the past couple days summer is coming to a close. The school buses are marking out their routes, woefully ignorant but excitable college students have invaded public transit, and that irritating but inevitable fall flavor- pumpkin- is resurfacing in an ever increasing number of eateries.
Soon the weather will cool, the leaves will change, and holiday merchandising will usurp the places held for months by kites, bubble wands, and sidewalk chalk. It has been a good summer, warm and sunny. But time, unrelenting and impassive, rolls on. And the uncertain future gradually becomes the present.
Now
Close the bar-b-que
Close the sun
Close the home-run-games we won
Close the picnic
Close the pool
Close the summer
Open school
