Perhaps
in our age
the scales have tipped
from kindness to cruelty
Perhaps
hand-held technologies
have usurped attention
and eroded respect
However
at my large and faceless office
all make an effort
to hold the elevator door
And perhaps
this small courtesy is one of many
that have defied
the tides of incivility
