It's easy to relish a good meal
to be moved by taste to feel
hiking in a National Park
to be awed by Mother Nature's mark
to celebrate a triumph
new job, birthday, the ending of a diet
joy's are easy to be grateful for
because they, by nature, restore
but come pain and trial
come toil and bile
it can be difficult to maintain grace
to not succumb to doom's embrace
but even hardship is a gift
life is fleeting, finite, mist
labor and adventure both
make up the path of growth.
