No one tells you

start a family
or even
deal with small scale
adversity
it is expected
as Adults
we simply know.

Responsibility
can be a burden
especially when
it is unclear
But maturity
offers avenues
of satisfaction
unknown
to the wide-eyed teen:
Friendship
deep and lasting
Love
based in equality
Achievement
out of struggle
Purpose
born of burdens
willingly shouldered
and Joy
in possibility.
